Dr. Wendy Lopez is a Therapeutic Optometrist, as well as, a Glaucoma Certified Specialist. Dr. Lopez is a primary care provider meaning she provides comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, glasses and contact lens prescriptions for both children and adults. Dr. Lopez is able to diagnose and manage diabetic eye conditions, glaucoma, dry eye, allergy in the eyes, “red” eyes, and eye infections.
Dr. Lopez was born in South Texas, otherwise known as, The Rio Grande Valley. She moved to San Antonio to pursue her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She graduated from UTSA with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2015, and then she pursued her doctorate degree from The University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. During her schooling at UIW, Dr. Lopez participated in various mission trips to Chichicastenango, Guatemala where complete eye exams were provided to the underserved communities. Dr. Lopez also participated in the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists (FCO) where vision screenings and glasses prescriptions were provided for the homeless community in San Antonio. She graduated with honors in 2019, and she was recognized for her special work with children by receiving the Pediatric Equipment Award.
Dr. Lopez is an active member of Bexar County Optometric Society, Texas Optometric Society, and American Optometric Association. During her free time, Dr. Lopez enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, 2 huskies, and family/friends.
