Eye-Deal Vision in San Antonio puts quality and thoroughness at the top of the list of importance when it comes to eye health. As such, you’ll never be rushed or feel like you are just a number. Eye exams are available for the entire family, including toddlers and babies. The examination process assesses both visual performance, the health of your eyes, and your overall health such as determining whether conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or elevated cholesterol are affecting your vision. Through the application of the latest technology, all of your eye care needs will be addressed in the comprehensive eye exam.

When should I get an eye exam?

Routine eye exams should begin at age four or sooner if you are noticing issues with vision. We recommend having an eye exam every year even if you are not experiencing symptoms. This ensures the overall health of the visual system and can alert your provider to other health issues presenting in the eye exam.

How do I prepare for an exam?

When you call to make an appointment for your exam, mention if you are having any trouble with your vision or eye irritation. Be sure to bring all pairs of glasses including sunglasses and contact lenses prescription if they're available. The doctor may or may not need to dilate your eyes which eye drops will be placed in the eyes. The effects of pupil dilation vary from a little fuzzy to very blurry, so if you’ve never had your pupils dilated we recommend to bring a driver to assist you home. The actual exam from start to finish can last between a half hour to an hour. Some of the tests you might receive include:

  • Eye muscle movement test
  • Cover test
  • External exam and pupil reactions
  • Visual acuity test
  • Refraction testing
  • Retinal examination
  • Overall visual system exam
